About Me
My name is Amanda. I live in a small town in the Midwest with my little family. My family consists of my husband, 3 kids, and our 9 year old pup. I am a wife, mom, homemaker, blogger, and I work part-time outside our home.
I love sharing the things I have learned with other people so they won’t have to make the same mistakes that I have made. Whether that is through product reviews, honest life stories, or just tips and tricks I have learned along the way.
About My Other Shoelace
There are a few differrent layers to My Other Shoelace. There’s our purpose, what we are about, our key audience, and then where we got our name. Here we will attempt to share a little bit of it all.
Our Purpose
When I was in my 20s, I made a lot of mistakes. I spent a lot of time and money on things I shouldn’t have. While I wouldn’t have listened to someone lecture me, I wish I would have had somewhere to go to learn to make better life choices.
My Other Shoelace is my attempt to share my mistakes in a non-lecture type why, so that others can learn from my mistakes and possibly make better choices themselves.
What We Are About
Our goal on My Other Shoelace is to share Real Talk, Real Tips, and Real Reviews for Real Life. We will do this through sharing life hacks, how-to’s, honest reviews, and real life stories that you might be able to learn from. Our Key Audience
Our key audience is young adults… young Millennials and older Gen Zer’s. Why? As a young person in your late teens and 20s, you are new to adulthood and trying to figure life out for yourself.
Some of you might have parents to go to for help and advice, but not all of you do. Even those that do, might not feel comfortable going to your parents for help with some of the things we talk about here.
My goal with My Other Shoelace is that you Millennials and Gen Zers will have a reliable place to go for answers, and won’t have to rely on friends who might be clueless but just pretend to know it all.
Where We Got Our Name
The name My Other Shoelace came from an inside joke with a friend of mine. She would sing this funny little song and say, when I think about you, “I wish I had My Other Shoelace!”
When I was coming up with the name for the blog, I wanted something that was original and that people would remember…. so we now have “My Other Shoelace!”
